Nick Mumford - Lasik of Nevada is a doctors office like no other. It has a large, comfortable waiting room, a knowledgeable and extremely competent staff, and the most high-tech equipment possible. What made Lasik of Nevada my choice of facilities to get my procedure done, is the surgeon, Dr. Richard Rothman.
I met Dr. Rothman my first visit. He was happy to answer any and all questions I had, which actually weren’t many because his staff answered almost all of them. He explained the pre-op, surgical, and post-op procedures in great detail. He does not cut corners and he does not make outlandish promises on the result of your procedure. He tells you in plain English what he expects you will gain out of your prodecure. I believe it is hard to find a person like that these days.
I, like any other normal person, was quite nervous the day of the procedure. After all, you only have two eyes. I was welcomed into the surgical waiting room by one of the techs, and got a chance to meet the other patients that were having procedures that day. After a couple minutes, Dr. Rothman came in and answered any last minute questions and gave us some helpful tips on how to be comfortable during our procedure.
When it was my turn, I was lead into the operating room by one of the techs and layed down on one of the surgical beds. Dr. Rothman then performed an amazing procedure. He jokingly refers to it as "verbal anesthesia ". Somehow, I still haven’t figured out how, he calms you down, and all your jitters go away. He begins the procedure and before you know it, your procedure is done, you are lead out by one of the techs, and given your set of lubricating, steroid, and antibacterial eye drops and released to rest the remainder of the day. You have several post-op appointments, the earliest being the day after your procedure. The staff and Dr. Rothman continue to treat you like family even after your procedure is done.
Before my procedure, I was seeing 20/200 in my good eye, and 20/300 in my bad one. I had astigmatism and my eyes were constantly dry. Now, I see 20/20, my astigmatism doesn’t bother me, and my dry eyes are much better due to sets of lacrimal plugs put in by Dr. Rothman’s staff. Although Lasik is a procedure I will not have to go through again, I tell everyone I meet that I would not mind, due to a truly caring physician, Dr. Richard Rothman.
